  • The Parallax Boe-Bot Robot Kit - USB Edition is a popular robot kit available for free using the USB compatible educational board (BOE). Programming the BASIC Stamp via USB is an effective solution for laptops and modern PCs that do not have a serial port (no additional adapters required). Instructions for installing the USB driver can be downloaded from the Helpful Links section. Hobbyists, educators, and students around the world have used over 90,000 Boe-Bot robots, providing a wealth of feedback to improve this popular kit.

  • Andy Lindsay's Boe-Bot Robotics Textbook includes 41 Boe-Bot Robotics Textbook activities, complete with PBASIC 2.5 source code support and bonus assignments with solutions for each chapter. From basic motion to sensor-based projects, customers can quickly see how the Boe-Bot can be expanded into a variety of robotics projects. No robotics, electronics, or programming experience is required to do these activities.

  • The Boe-Bot robot features a high-quality aluminum chassis that provides a solid platform for the continuous rotation servo motors and the BASIC Stamp® USB Education Board. A variety of mounting holes and slots are provided for custom robotics equipment or for adding off-the-shelf Parallax add-ons. The rear wheels are sliding balls secured with cotter pins. The drive wheels are molded to fit precisely over the servo splines and are secured with small screws.

  • The programming flexibility of the BASIC Stamp microcontroller, when combined with the breadboard circuit architecture, makes the Boe-Bot unique. Additionally, Boe-Bot users can quickly learn about the built-in projects, from wiring and components to programming and mechanical dependencies. This kit includes the passive components (wires, resistors, capacitors), sensors (photoresistors, bumpers, infrared sensors), and hardware (whisker touch sensor kit) needed to complete a variety of projects.

  • The Boe-Bot robot takes about 1-2 hours to build, but each project in the robotics textbook offers a unique and new experience in wiring and tuning the source code. The entire set of projects takes about 50 hours to complete and is suitable for anyone ages 12 and up. The USB learning board (and BS2-IC) can also be removed and used as a platform for other kits in the Stamps in Class range.

  • After you’ve mastered the basics, the Boe-Bot robot accessories allow you to expand into new activities, such as making the Boe-Bot speak via the voice board, adding an IR remote, racing mazes, following lines, connecting orientation sensors, and creating a video robot using the RF module and video/camera equipment. The Boe-Bot accessories are sold separately and can be purchased on the Robot Accessories page below.

  • NOTE: The product contains CdS cell photoresistors. The current RoHS exemption status for CdS cells is unclear. There is no definitive RoHS compliant replacement device.
