Lynxmotion (LSS) - MechDOG quadruped animal base kit

12DoF quadruped robot for development and experimentation

Using a configurable and multifunctional Lynx motion intelligent server

The frame components are made of durable aluminum and G10 composite materials

Designed for adding sensors, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc

Assembly, programming, and additional parts are required

Lynxmotion (LSS) - MechDOG quadruped robot basic kit is a quadruped robot "dog" developed in collaboration between Lynxmotion and Mech Dickel Robotics, with degrees of freedom similar to mammals. This medium-sized platform aims to provide users with an intelligent servo based platform for indoor development and experimentation.

The entire process utilized the Lynx motion ST1 modular intelligent server and various Lynx motion servo upright kit (SES) V2 brackets. The body panel is made of composite material G10, and the body side panel is made of anodized aluminum. The LSS adapter is used to distribute battery power to each leg and can be used with microcontrollers compatible with Arduino shielding, single board computers (SBC) such as Raspberry Pi, and even directly with USB cables.

Fully utilize LSS/SES V2 modular bracket

The use of wing shaped screws at the top and bottom allows for quick access to internal compartments. There is an installation point at the top for installing accessories such as RPLidar-A1 360 degree laser scanner. The size of the robot and the built-in functionality of the intelligent server make it an ideal low-cost development platform, where various sensors can be installed and used for autonomous behavior, navigation, and more.

MechDOG and its 12 Lynx Motion Intelligent Servers (LSS)

By combining Lynxmotion's intelligent servo motor (instead of the 9g small RC servo motor commonly used for small desktop quadrupeds or the BLDC motor used for large quadrupeds), developers can effectively control and provide feedback on the servo motor. The possible configurations for each servo motor include angle range, center position, direction, speed, LED color, operating mode (serial and RC), etc. The feedback of each servo motor (serial mode) includes but is not limited to: absolute angle positioning, voltage, current, speed, temperature, and servo motor status. Servo motors use a "human readable" communication protocol, making them very easy to use and understand. Arduino, Python, and ROS libraries can be used for servo motors.

The MechDOG basic kit is designed to allow customers to add their own electronic devices, such as microcontrollers or single board computers. The example motion code compatible with Arduino can be inputted using RC, and customers can modify it according to their own needs. However, as a quadruped development platform, customers need to program the robot to meet their needs and applications.
